1923 March 6 Bombardier James Archibald Stonehouse, Royal Garrison Artillery committed suicide in Hospital . He had been wounded while serving with the Bere Island Garrison on the launch ‘Cambridge’ while returning to Berehaven with a party which had just drawn money from bank in Castletown on 25 Aug 1922. He was in hospital for an operation for gunshot wounds to both thighs from that incident and was depressed because he imagined he was not recovering.
