There is some doubt when one examines the press reports as to whether he did as a result of the Jul 20th ambush at Coolavokig or from one at Ballingeary on 28 Jul. On balance I feel it is the Jul 20 ambush that caused his death. There was a tril at the end of August for men accused of the Jul 28th ambush, and no mention is made of a death. If a soldier had died. it would have been part of the trial
