1904 Oct 4 Born Salford son of George Washington (a shoemaker) and Harriet (nee Whatmough). His parents married in 1892
1911 census gives him living at : 189 Regent Road Salford
In this census William Washington (who died in 1917) is with his grandparents at 6 West Dixon St Regent Road Salford (the marriage of Harriet Whatmough (sic) to George Washington is in Jul/Sep 1892 at Salford)
He must have enlisted in British Army under a false age. The Irish GRO gives him as 19, and they would have got the information from the Army.
1920 Sep 20. The death of a Harold Washington was registered in the Dublin North Registration District in the September Quarter of 1920. His age was given as 19. However his age is given as 16 on his grave, and is given as age 15 on CWGC a victim of the Kevin Barry Ambush. The correct age of his death is that he was 15 years old when he was shot. (born 4 Oct 1904 and died 20 Sep 1920)
CWGC recorded his age correctly as 15
Buried at Weaste Cemetery, Salford.
