1921 Jul 10. Died in Castleisland ambush. Son of Mrs. J. E. Kelly, of 60 Islington, Liverpool .
According to the Regimental History a soldier was killed accidentally when he picked up a captured gun. The newspaper report from the "Independent" states that 3 soldiers were killed. Unlike the other 3 soldiers that were killed that night Pte Kelly does not appear on a casualty roll issued for British KIA for July 1921 and he did not appear on the Memorial Service Casualty Roll.
