11504 & 5094486 J Jennings, Warwicks Regt

Difficult to tie this down, different Christian names and different regiments are given. I would assume that the Army Effects is correct.

 

Martha Wingfield married John Jennings in Birmingham in 1886. Martha's fist husband died soon after Arthur Wingfield was born in 1881

 

1895 Dec 26 Born Leo Joseph Jennings in Birmingham

1901 census Living at Russell Terrace, Birmingham. His mother has been widowed a second time by 1901

1911 census at Shireland Rd, Smethwick, B'ham

 

1915 April 14 enlisted (from regimental number)

1915 Dec 11. Landed in Balkans with 9th R Warwicks. Formed at Warwick in August 1914 as part of K1 and came under command of 39th Brigade, 13th (Western) Division. Moved to Gallipoli in July 1915. Went to Egypt in January 1916 and thence to Mesopotamia in February 1916. In July 1918, 39th Brigade detached and sent as part of North Persia Force. Was in Transcaspia in October 1918.

1922 Mar 21. Died of pneumonia in Ireland at Holywood, near Belfast
