1890 Sep/Dec Born Pershore Thomas Henry Fitzgerald Downton. His father had been a sergeant in Worcesters, and his father's service record is on FindMyPast. He was listed as an army birth/baptism in 1890 and his father was still with the army until 1898, the assumption being that he was born at Norton Barracks.

1891 census living at Norton Barracks Worcester, Norton Juxta Kempsey Worcester. His father Thomas is a sergeant in the Army.

1911 census with 4th Worcs in Naini Tol, India. Single, age 20, born Worcs.

1914 Aug 12. Landed in France

1919 married Annie Carruthers in Newcastle upon Tyne, There do not appear to be any children of this marriage

1920 Sep 20. Died at Dublin, age 33. Downton and Sgt Albert Sweeney were murdered by Sgt George Henry Pollington.

Husband of Annie Downton, of 55, Joan St., Benwell. Newcastle-on-Tyne (she appears to have remarried to Robert Johnson in 1927)

Buried St Johns Westgate Cemetery, Newcastle upon Tyne.
