Private Arthur Bowes, 66896 2nd Bn. Yorkshire Regiment.

1920 May 20. Died accidentally shot by Private Bowers at Tipperary Military Barracks. Private Bowers told the inquest that acting on his corporal's instructions he loaded his rifle by putting five cartridges into the magazine. On closing the bolt one bullet must have slipped into the breach and when he pulled the trigger which was the usual thing to do, a bullet was fired, and hit Pte Bowes in the neck exiting through his back.. The jury found that the death was accidental and exonerated Bowers.
