1920 Oct/Dec He was married in in Bridge Registration district in Kent (probably at Bekesbourne Church ) to Laura Mepsted . She was born in Challock Kent 1895 the daughter of James Horton Mepsted (1855-1900) and Harriet Noble (1864-1953). After her father's death, her mother remarried John Thomas Burchett or Birchett (the spelling varied) and had two more children with him. Laura and her surviving Mepsted siblings (there were 6 children of Harriet's first marriage) took the surname Burchett or Birchett when their mother remarried, and in the 1911 census, Laura is listed under the name spelling Laura Birchett as a domestic servant in Wingham Well, Canterbury, Kent. She and Carl were married less than a year before Carl was killed. There don't appear to be any children born of the brief marriage.
