1901 census. Congested Districts Board. Set up in Ireland in 1891 by Chief Secretary, Arthur Balfour to alleviate poverty & congested living conditions in West of Ireland. He is in the census at 11 Churchfield, Knock South, Mayo, living with his parents and his own wife and family

1911 census is a boarder at Churchfields, Mayo. He is living right beside his parents, but no longer in their house. His wife and family are not living with him, but it shows that he has a wife and 7 living children (born it says Mayo, Australia and Dublin)

while his parents are also in Churchfields

From the service record and the 1901 census one can see that his children (only 7 of whom were alive in 1911 census) were

This could be the younger children, but difficult to be sure, at 2 Simmonstown, Donaghcumper, Kildare

And this is probably his wife (the statistics say so both he and she are down as married for 24 years with 10 children of whom 7 are living) at 3 Ballycahane Pallaskenry, Limerick.

Eugene Kelly today thinks they left Churchfield between 1901 and 1911 and moved to Truro and that They would not have been wealthy and I have the feeling they overspent

1915 Enlists twice in British Army at age of 52, he lied about his age, saying he was 45 when he was in fact 52. His service record is available
